Ruskotunturi is made for everyday use.
It’s close by, so you can hit the slopes even amidst the hustle of daily life. You don’t meticulously plan a family visit to the playground, so why should a ski day be any different? Travel time and planning shouldn’t be reasons to stay on the couch; that’s why we’re nearby.
We are a local sports hub and a community club that inspires both adults and youth to stay active and encourages the most passionate to aim for even greater heights.
Ruskotunturi is a ski resort just a few kilometers from downtown Oulu. Skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels are warmly welcome.
Our hill offers activities for everyone! In addition to ski slopes, Ruskotunturi features two snow parks for tricks and stunts. The Kids’ Heap is full of fun for the whole family, including a kids’ lift, carousel, sledding hill, and campfire spots.

Not valid for season passes or the rope lift / magic carpet lift.
Children under 6 can ski for free when accompanied by an adult with a valid lift ticket.
Children under 4 can use the rope lift for free when accompanied by an adult with a valid rope lift ticket.
Corporate season passes are not personal and can be shared within a work community.
VAT will be added to all corporate passes.
The weekday evening lift ticket is not valid during school holidays or public holidays.

Ski lift ticket €12 incl. rope tow and magic carpet lift
Other visitors:
Huvikumpu area entrance fee €2 / person.
(Holders of a ski lift ticket do not need to pay the area fee.)
Children under 2 years old enter the area free of charge.
With the Huvikumpu area ticket you have access to:
Sledding hill
Campfire spots with firewood
Carousel
Snow tubes
Sleds
If you are in the area without a lift ticket or area ticket, we will charge a €150 penalty fee for misuse.
All persons in the area must present a receipt for the area ticket or a ski lift ticket to ski resort staff upon request.
The set includes boots, snowboard/skis, a helmet, and poles.
At Ruskotunturi, there’s something for everyone, from your very first run to an afternoon of sledding together. Beginners can practice skiing in the Rope Park, or you can grab a sled and enjoy the hill with the whole family.
Warm up by the campfire or stop by the café for hot cocoa and a snack before heading back outside. Here, kids have their own safe space in Heap, complete with a rope lift, small bumps, and a slalom track. Ski school lessons are also available to give little ones the best possible start.
And it’s not just for skiers! Our sledding and tube slope offers fun for all ages. Whether you’re learning, playing, or simply enjoying winter outdoors, Ruskotunturi makes sure no one is left out.
First Time on the Slopes?
Ruskotunturi Ski School offers lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels — whether it’s your first time on the slopes, you’re returning after a long break, or you’re looking to improve your technique.
Our experienced and encouraging instructors provide lessons in both skiing and snowboarding. The ski school is perfect for children, adults, exchange student groups, or first-timer work teams. You can join a lesson solo or with others; group size and lesson content are tailored to the participants’ skill levels.
We offer both private and group lessons for all ages. For children, we also organize the popular Werneri ski courses. Additionally, we provide Biski and Monoski sleds as well as adaptive equipment for standing skiing.

What does Werneri teach? Skiing and snowboarding begin with the basics of slope behavior: participants first get to know their equipment on flat ground. Learning to use the lift safely, understanding slope rules, working in a group, and helping others are the key points of beginner instruction.
A child who completes the Werneri ski school becomes a confident skier or snowboarder and can continue the hobby in, for example, alpine or freestyle clubs.
The registration deadline is two days before the course starts. Confirmation about the course being held will be announced at that time.
This course is intended for 6–12-year-olds taking their first steps on skis.
The goal is to learn basic skiing skills, lift usage, slope etiquette, and slope safety.
For children under 6 years old who are interested in skiing, we recommend booking a private lesson.
For 5–12-year-olds who already know how to make snowplow turns, brake, stop, control their speed, and use the rope and button lifts.
The course develops skiing toward parallel turns and teaches how to apply one’s skills in different slope conditions.
Minimum age: 7 years
Intended for children and youth starting out with snowboarding or who have tried it a few times.
The course introduces the snowboard as equipment, teaches slope safety, and how to use ski lifts (rope and button lift).
Basic snowboarding skills practiced include balance, gliding, edge control, and turns.
For children under 6 years old interested in snowboarding, we recommend private lessons.
This course is suitable for those who already know the basics of snowboarding and can independently use the rope and button lifts.
The course focuses on smoother turning and broader board control through varied exercises. It also introduces basic carving and freestyle tricks. The goal is to become an independent rider capable of handling easy conditions safely.
Participants should ideally have experience with both toe-side and heel-side turns in easy conditions.
Werner’s Ski Kindergarten is a 2 × 50-minute course designed for children aged 4–5, offering them the chance to take their first steps on skis together with others of the same age.
The goal of the course is for each child to experience the joy of discovery and success in a safe and encouraging environment, at a level suited to their age and ability. During the course, children will learn to:
stop at a marked spot
make their first turns using the magic carpet or rope lift in the children’s area
The course provides the skills needed to move on to the LumiWerneri level, and the instructors will also assess whether the child may be ready to join the LumiWerneri course during the same season.
Each child must be accompanied by one parent or guardian, who acts as moral support and an extra helping hand — for example, assisting the child when getting on and off the magic carpet lift. No special skills are required — just warm clothing and waterproof shoes.
The Adult Beginner Course is designed for first-timers and those with only a little previous experience in skiing or snowboarding. The course includes two 90-minute lessons, during which participants learn the essential basics of the sport in a safe, relaxed, and encouraging environment.

The goal is for every participant to experience the joy of learning and gaining confidence to continue practicing independently.
This course is also ideal for those who may have tried the sport years ago and want to refresh their skills and regain confidence before returning to the slopes.
No previous experience is required – just bring warm, weatherproof clothing and an open mind.
